HAND AND UPPER LIMB

Syndactyly is one of the most common congenital diseases of the hand and foot, and corresponds to a partial or total fusing of the soft tissues of two fingers, which may be accompanied by the fusion of bone and nail. It is more frequent in the third interdigital space (between the middle finger and the ring finger) and in the vast majority of cases it is a situation that arises in isolation, although sometimes it may be associated with congenital syndromes.

The treatment consists of the release of the space between the fingers, and there is often a need for skin grafts, which can be harvested from the elbow, arm or groin.
